Casino Whistleblower - 2007/03/02 13:06 My name is Sam Schildkraut, and I am a casino whistleblower. I now live in New Orleans after about ten long years in Vegas. I recently blew the whistle on a New Orleans casino ( Bally's ) by calling police and other officials about my seeing casino dealers and casino supervisors attempts at cheating and hustling dice players for tips;
and of course I lost my job as a casino dealer after reporting that;
and it didn't help that I ( on what would be my last night ) called the police again when a supervisor grabbed me ( on camera ) and gave me a hard time and wanted to know why I was complaining when this supervisor was a strong part of the illegal activities.
For the moment I'm not getting too much help from press, and the lawyers who care want five thousand dollars from me in my unemployed status, and most of all YOU THE PUBLIC who I've done this for for a decade DON'T CARE that a casino dealer is willing to protect you and lose his jobs doing the right thing. If I blew the whistle on government or medicial stuff, you would care; but if I do it over casino activities, nobody cares and I am forced to, after all this time, ask if anyone knows of a lawyer, press member, ect., who can help.
After my termination, I went to Baton Rouge to testify against Bally's renewal of a gaming permit; and before I spoke, a police official sited many more illegal activities of Bally's that included,
"....cheating.....underage gambling...."; and that's just for openers.
WHAT IS UNIQUE is that in the history of American gaming, I may be the first casino dealer ever ( for all I know and what I haven't heard )
to have the gaming and/or police official do a full-scale investigation. In a few days they'll go over my statement, ect., and then later speak with witnesses that I've mentioned. Again, any help you can provide ( ideas, press, lawyers, ect.) would be appreciated.
IF YOU CAN'T BELIEVE THAT I'D DO IT FOR YOU, AFTER ALL I'VE DONE, THAN
PLEASE DON'T HELP ME.
Finally, I don't think it is against the policies of these message boards; so I'll mention that here in New Orleans, I have a cable variety show on public access television ( I spend about seven dollars an episode in costs believe it or not ) and my current episode - which
I've been running for quite a while has my interview with JOHN WALSH of AMERICA'S MOST WANTED, scenes from my low-budget movies, music, entertainment; and of course my testimony and that of the police official. ODDLY ENOUGH, I was the only one at that Gaming Control
Board Hearing with a video camera - due to the Legislative Session, the majority of press didn't attend this gaming hearing, ODD ISN'T IT
THAT BOTH ITEMS WERE SCHEDULED ON THE SAME DAY ????? Of course the press has been arguing that paperwork, situations, evidence, great arguments, ect., are not enough to investigate when they do stories off of hearsay with less to go on; but lately the press has shown a little more interest because of the investigation.
My show is titled:
CONFESSIONS OF A CHRONIC COMPLAINER and airs on public access 77 on the following times:
Mondays: 12:30 a.m. & 12:30 p.m.
Thursdays: 9:30 a.m. & 9:30 p.m.
Ladies, I just turned 39 and am single.
To all of those who read this with an open-mind ( which is part of the concept of "UNITED WE STAND" ) I appreciate you time very much. Sam.

re:Casino Whistleblower - 2007/03/02 14:57 To bill b - I wasn't trying to brag, so I don't think many are out there waiting; but a handful with class wouldn't look down at me. If you found the right one, you might understand and you wouldn't make fun of someone pushing 40 who hasn't; and it sounds like you need to work on some things. Also, it is an odd thing to comment on when it wasn't the main part of the message.
To raydpratt, I appreciate the advice, it was very kind of you. I got an email with some other positive advice.
My biggest fault is that, so far, half of those writing to me are going out of their way to be negitive while the other half are being very human. So my biggest fault is that I've risked many jobs to protect those who look down on me for helping them not be cheated and would do it again.

re:Casino Whistleblower - 2007/03/03 23:22 Bill, first off it is illegal to underpay and cheat, second is that the question of minimum wage isn't that the players should be cheated but that the casino should sooner pay dealers more, third I CANNOT BE
AN ACCOMPLICE BECAUSE I REPORTED IT WHICH IS ALL I COULD DO, fourth is that I don't understand your question of "...internet on the inside.".
Also, if I were a waiter and served you and told you the check was fifteen dollars when it was ten and you paid and I pocketed the five extra dollars then I'd be stealing from you and in a sense cheating the company which is basically the same as my casino observations.
The irony is that as I've said before, the press and lawyers and public on the whole tell me that they believe every word but still won't do anything. If it will help Bill, I can tell you this, I once worked in a convenience store and threatened to go to the Board Of
Health if the manager didn't stop selling outdated products ( including baby food ); and so it seems that people might appreciate that I was ready to blow the whistle on a convenience store, but as to blowing the whistle on a powerful and wealthy casino, people are brainwashed to believe me and still question every word I say and act like I have the problem as opposed to saying why can't the press make a local call and ask the casinos questions.

re:Casino Whistleblower - 2007/03/07 07:42 Hello Bill, thank you for asking. I can tell you that one of many silly reasons that the press doesn't want to do stories on my claims is that the cheating I talk of usually doesn't involve huge amounts of money, it is usually over very very small amounts. So to answer your question - just some examples of what I've seen over the years is like dealers and supervisors getting players who are very new to dice to make bets and give tips without their knowing it or by fast talking them - I've seen a number of times where the player would be talked into betting two dollars on a hard six and the bet is set up as a two-way bet when the player thinks that his two dollars are bet only for himself, not one dollar for himself and one for the dealers. Of course as a dealer
I want tips, but not to the point of tricking players into it.
Another example is paying a player seven dollars for a one dollar bet on the eleven and the other eight dollars goes to the dealer because the player doesn't know any better. I could go on; but the irony is that on the whole, this happens at some casinos alot and after a day's work, only so much is made for the dealers ( and SOMETIMES supervisors ) but only amounts to at best a dollar extra a dealer for eight hours work. Another strange matter is that I'd lose jobs when the rule books say they don't want hustling and stealing and it turns into a big cover up over so very little. You'd think that the higher management would at least thank me. My recent experience is leading to a police investigation FINALLY, AFTER TEN YEARS.
Regardless of how I may sound, I have no problem in telling you or other readers this ---- I quit a job because I didn't want to go along with the stealing and all; and soon after I got a call while working at another casino, and the call came from a dealer from the job I quit; and he was upset because I went to management in the past and probably feared the gaming authorities; so he said that he was going to kill me and called me a dirty Jew. His hate for other minorities is even worse. By the way, I didn't go into the industry and figured that I'd go through ten years of hell so that I'd be out of work, nobody wants to hire me in any so-called respectable industry regardless of my clean record, college education, and honorable discharge; and my goal wasn't to wait ten years for a thank you or to find a way to write article to some, who as you've seen, criticize me.
For whatever reasons, I may not be as important as famous whistleblowers, but the whole of the public think that a casino dealer is garbage, an unemployed dealer gets it worse, and one blowing the whistle to protect the public from getting robbed of a few dollars that they may not miss, is at the bottom of the list. Again, I appreciate your question and hope I answered it to your satisfaction.
Also, thank you for the comments from Stacey. I don't totally agree, but appreciate the kind words.
