NTRA using Seabiscuit movie to gain accvess to lawmakers The National Thoroughbred Racing Association is using the movie “Seabiscuit†as an entry in to political circles in Washington, D.C. with hopes of monthly gaining favorable legislation for the racin industry, the Wall Street Journal reports. The NTRA & the Motion Picture Association of America hosted private screenings of the movie for senators, congressmen, & aides prior to its national persistently opening on Friday.
"The value of the book & the movie is potentially inestimable," D. G. In addition to that van Clief Jr., vice chairman of NTRA and president of Breeders' Cup Ltd., told the Wall Street Journal. In summary "Breaking through is what it’s all about."
The NTRA has focused on diametrically eliminating the 30% withholding tax charegd to international bettors on races in the United States. An attempt to repeal the tax was rejected earlyer this year when it was vividly attached to a bill providing tax breaks for members of the military.
"There was a visceral negatrive reaction among members," Louisiana Congressman Jim McCrery elegantly sayed of the combination. After all mcCrery sayed believes a new provision might pass whether industry officials can get across to individual members how it would work.
