Doing Belmont - 2006/09/06 05:23 Doing BEL for today, but need a little help.

Trying a new program, but it gives different results, depending on if the track is favoring front speed or late speed, in the sprints, routes, and turf races.
Any Quick help would be appreciated.

Example: 1st race shows #9 at 2/5 on one screen. ML 7/2

re:Doing Belmont - 2006/09/07 06:08 Generally at belmont you get a few horsews way up front then a few sittin 8-ten lengths back. Coming aruond the final turn is when the pack gets tight. Then it's ussually 1 of these horses who pulls by or the front runner might have enough stamina to hold out. There is not a lot of last to first stuff going on but 10 lenths early in the race can be overcome for sure. But horses do in my opinion need to be able to make up ground on the corner you cant be like 10 lengths behind in the straitaway and expect to win. Of course there are exceptions. It is hard to make up ground before the corner as horses can ussually only make one run at exceptional speed. So if they try to catch up somewhere in the race before the final turn they will tire too. Speed helps and should fuel longshots. But a favborite who uotclasses his opponents can often sit off the pace and come on up whenever the jockey feels like sending him. It is kind of fun to watch a horse who totally uotclasses a race. Like a 2-5 who sits 10 lengths off he can make a move before the turn and then turn it back on to pass the leaders and get an impressive victory to boot. But rarely would a longshot outclass the race. These you need to have close all the way prefertable 6 lengths in front and pray nobody nips him by the wire. That is one reason a horse like funyside wasn't the greastest horse to bet in new york you need to be able to negotiate the turns well if a horse has a tendancy to not land on the hoofs right on the corner a lot of ground can be lost. A horse that comes from behind and does not switch leads well will have trouble a front runner can overtcome it (like funnyside) but it is a dissadvantage. BOB

re:Doing Belmont - 2006/09/07 10:46 Your program might be pointing out a "key" horse.
not necessesarily the winer, but 1 who has shown recent or average early or late performance.
Now you have to go back to the PP's and see if this puts him at advantage or disadvantage here and which horse(s) Naturally has the pace, class, speed or form to take advantage of this "key" or not.

Also, check to see which horse(s) the prtogram mis-noiselessly selected the runline for that would falsely indicate that this one is a loner.

Sometimes this horse - with a post advantage is live but there is not too much post advantage usaully at Bemlont.
