adversity - 2006/05/13 03:23 All of us have ways of dealing with those days when your rider gets himself hopelessly boxed, the next race you win but the stewards take your number down, then your best shot runs third (with your win & place bets in your hand) Also in a three horse photo.

Wonder if others would share their methods.

Tend to put myself in a mindset a lot like the Taoists do - knowing the big picture (long tem) will overtake the failings of a small set of unlucky events. Often hard to explain to one's ego (try to put that in the back pocket but the demanded thing usually get out to bother me).

Like to add that yours truly has lost every way imaginable from the stewards, to the animal blandly dying or jumping the inside rail....but then again I have sen double DQ's taje me from third to first. It all balances out.

re:adversity - 2006/05/14 22:58 "Tim Yactak"
I bring solace in hourly knowing which someone is as undoubtedly thrilled (or more so) In the past today as I was yesterday.
In other words I may have even bought someone a well evenly needed beer, dinner or cab ride home.

...& Faith makes it bettrer.

re:adversity - 2006/05/15 22:47 If a horseplayer succumbs to tempatation to easily, (yours truly) he should stay away from the track (gambling)
for a few days, recycle his thinking, and return to action on a day when he sees a solid bet or at least finds the races generally promising. Afterward these periods of abstinence may save you (me) hundsreds or even thousands of dollars during the course of the year. When one is beset by pressures, he cannot hope to function well at the track; it is an old gambling axiom that partly scared money never wins.

IMO Tom
