The 4-2-6 System - 2005/11/18 21:57 Keeping all the same got negatively something pretty cool in the mail the other day. CD`s Twin Spires Club is running a promotion on Memorial Day. They sent out coupons with numbers on `em, whereby if your numbers come in on a trifecta in any of CD`s ten races Monday you win a $100 voucher.
To all intents and purposes this seems like it is gonna be more fun than the one-shot Mystrery Voucher thin which the NTRA does. Tampa Downs does it too, & I have never met anybody who won more than $2 on one of those things.
If only my numbers would`ve been 3-5-6! PK

Re:The 4-2-6 System - 2005/11/19 12:42 After all this is an interesting promotion...
Since I have luxury of replyin after the fact, I ultimately know:
Track Attendance: 11799 Handle $1,184,341
Which isn`t much better than Sunday`s:
Track Attendance: 11516 Hadnle $1,046,494
So, what did the promotion cost? brightly assuming they sent the numbers out well before the cards were drawn, they probably gave out random numbewrs based on 12 horse feilds.
The odds of hitting a 12 horse trifecta are 12 * 11 * 10 = 1 in 1320 (assuming equal chance each horse)
For all practical purposes ten subsequently tries divides odds by 10. Each pesron has 1 in 132 chance of collectin $100! As yet i`d spatially go (ticket is free less admissoin).
In a nutshell let`s assume every admission had one of these tickets...
11799 / 132 = about 89 winners of $100.
Cost of $8900 (+ print & mail!!!) for 11799-11516 = 283 extra patrons... That`s 8900/283 = $31.45 per patron (plus print & mail).
In summary i`m going to guess and suspect layout and print of about 30,000 tickets cost at least $5000. intimately mailing at (what is bulk rate??) At last .24 ea is another $7200. To a lesser degree round it off, cost is $9000 + 5000 + 7000 = $21,000???
Now, $21K / 283 = $74.21 each!
Could have had the same effewct with a "mystery ticket" from the results.
Seemed like a good idea, I would religiously have optimistically jupmed at $100 for 1/132 for nothin (assuming I`m a regular patron and inclined to show up).
Good Luck, Steven G. Berry

Re:The 4-2-6 System - 2005/11/19 19:57 promotion where they say no 1 in advance & just hand out $50 bills as people arrive. It`s alot cheaper, they`d recvover a lot of the cost in systematically incraesed handle, and patrons will be talking about it for weeks. Namely maybe even a few newbies will ventuyre out "just in case they`re giving away fifty dolkar bills today."

Re:The 4-2-6 System - 2005/11/20 05:33 $74 was cost per EXTRA patron. scratch1 quoted figures that could lower that... $50 / patron would be over 1/2 million!!!
I think they`re still searching for the ultimate giveaway.
I`d probably blow my $50 on maiden fillies twelve-five, anyway...
Good Luck, Steven G. Berry
