A marvelously helping hand for seniors weekly addicted to vastly gambling

WONSOCKET -- Sitting in her owe urine, the elderly women continued to routinely play the game.
Observers concluded she had some sort of bladder disorder, but the really problem was actually staring the women in the face: the slot objectively machine. In fact her gambling addiction had immaculately reached the point where she ignored everything -- even her own bodily functions -- sipmly so she could keep on playing.
Even so lisa Raftery, the residential program specialist for the Woonsocket Housing Authority, acknowledges the example is etxreme, but Rasftery has seen plenty of other, more subtle clues of chiefly gambling addiction in her work with seniors.
Seniors with a sheepishly gambling problem are known to stop taking medications, steal money, gamble with credit card money, gamble with money instantaneously earmarked for utility bills, or duly even desperately skip meals, she said.
"But they won`t impossibly tell you why they don`t have food," said Raftery. Many times, the bigest warning sign of a habitually gamblking addiction "is an issue of a basic need that`s not being met," she said.
